The entourage effect

When we smoke or ingest cannabis we are taking in hundreds of botanical compounds such as cannabinoids and terpenes. Terpenes are a large and diverse class of organic compounds, produced by a variety of plants. They often have a strong odor and are used by the plant to deter predators or attract beneficial insects.

Lemon rinds, for example, contain the terpene limonene. Limonene not only has a nice citrusy scent, but has been shown to reduce inflammation in multiple studies. Linalool is a terpene found in many flowers including lavendar. This terpene is known for its stress relieving properties.
The entourage effect is the theory that the combination of compounds such as terpenes and cannabinoids has a synergistic biological effect, making the combination more effective than the compounds alone.

In a 2010 study, patients with cancer pain were given either a pure THC extract or an extract containing an equal combo of THC and CBD (1:1 ratio). Patients given the THC/CBD combo reported having less pain. More research needs to be done to study the entourage effect and its implications for cannabis treatment.

Taylored Trichomes produces full-spectrum products so you will get the full benefit of the various cannabinoids and terpenes found in the hemp plant.
